The fact of the filling of the lake located in the Sovxoz Ramana area, Maştağa settlement, Sabunçu district, was investigated on site.
This was reported to Modern.az by the State Service for Control over the Use and Protection of Waters under the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan.
According to the information, within the framework of the investigation, an inspection was carried out at the water p located at address 1K, Maştağa settlement, Sabunçu district, with the participation of employees of the State Service for Control over the Use and Protection of Waters under the State Agency for Water Resources of Azerbaijan and the Police Department for Water Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It was determined that, through solid and mixed rock waste transported mainly during night hours, 0.34 hectares of the water basin were filled, and the aquatory was artificially reduced.
It was noted that the aforementioned area is an ecologically sensitive zone inhabited by aquatic, marsh, and other migratory birds. The filling and drying of the water p also create serious risks for residential houses located in the surrounding areas. This is because, as the water basin plays the role of a natural water regulator, its elimination can lead to flooding of yards and basements, damage to biodiversity, and disruption of ecological balance.
The materials collected regarding the fact were sent for legal assessment to the Police Department for Water Transport of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
