The next court hearing in the criminal case regarding the illegal introduction of technical devices into graduation and admission exams has been held.

Modern.az reports that today, at the Ganja City Court, during the proceedings chaired by Judge Elchin Mammadov, Kamran Asadov's lawyer requested that his client be released to house arrest. He asked for a change in the pre-trial detention measure due to Kamran Asadov's health.
The defense lawyer stated that there is no reason for Kamran Asadov to remain in custody, and that applicants and parents also bear responsibility in this case.

The court did not grant the motion.

The proceedings will continue on April 9.

It should be noted that the information released by the Press Service of the Prosecutor General's Office stated that the preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated based on information received by the State Security Service from the State Examination Center regarding assistance provided to individuals participating in university admission and graduation exams contrary to exam rules, was continued by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General. The preliminary investigation established reasonable suspicions that Gündüz Yaşar oglu Abbasov, engaged in individual entrepreneurial activity, illegally prepared technical devices intended for covert information acquisition to assist applicants and students of the preparatory course he organized in answering tests during university admission and graduation exams, and also, by entering into criminal conspiracy with Kamran Alim oglu Asadov, assisted a total of 11 individuals (3 through conspiracy and 8 personally) by installing these technical devices on them. Furthermore, reasonable suspicions were established that Sənan Rasim oglu Hüseynov, in the territory of Sumgayit city, without obtaining special permission and contrary to the requirements of relevant normative legal acts, sold 31 technical devices intended for covert information acquisition and which could belong to certain participants in civil circulation. Based on the collected evidence, Gündüz Abbasov was charged under Articles 302.3 (illegal sale and acquisition for sale of technical devices intended for covert information acquisition) and 308.1 (abuse of official powers) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan; Kamran Asadov was charged under Articles 302.3, 32.5, and 308.1 (abetment to abuse of official powers) of the same Code; and Sənan Hüseynov was charged under Article 302.3 of the same Code. Gündüz Abbasov was arrested by court decision based on the motion of the investigative p and the submission of the prosecutor exercising procedural guidance over the preliminary investigation, while non-custodial pre-trial detention measures were chosen for other individuals by decision of the investigative p. The preliminary investigations in the criminal cases have been completed and sent to the relevant courts for consideration. It was noted that Kamran Asadov had previously been brought to criminal responsibility by the Main Department for Combating Corruption under the Prosecutor General under Articles 178.2.4 and 310 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and was sentenced by a court judgment dated 18.02.2015 to a fine (additional) and 2 years of correctional labor (main) with 15% of his earnings withheld in favor of the state. It should be recalled that Kamran Asadov was arrested during the court proceedings held on January 23. (APA)
