The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) welcomes the significant progress towards peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia.

Modern.az reports that this is stated in the report by the Alliance's Secretary General Mark Rutte on the outcomes of 2025.

The document emphasizes that the initialing of a peace agreement in August is an important step towards the normalization of relations and the strengthening of regional security. In this regard, the Alliance is ready to deepen dialogue and cooperation with both countries.

"Considering that the region continuously feels the consequences of Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, the South Caucasus is of significant importance for NATO's security," the document notes.

The report states that within the framework of the Military Education Enhancement Program for 2025, Azerbaijan has intensified the exchange of best practices with partner states.

Within the framework of the "Partnership for Peace" program, NATO cooperates with 16 countries, including Azerbaijan.

Furthermore, the document also focuses on the activities of NATO's Centres of Excellence – organizations established at national and multinational levels to support the Alliance's capabilities. Today, 30 Centres of Excellence hold NATO accreditation, while another 5 are in various stages of the evaluation process. "All 32 NATO member states are involved in this ecosystem, and 8 partner countries (including Azerbaijan) also contribute," the report notes.("Report")
