The mayor of Bursa, Turkey, Mustafa Bozbey, from the Republican People's Party (CHP), has been detained.
Modern.az reports that within the framework of the investigation conducted by the Bursa Prosecutor's Office, a decision was made to detain Bozbey and 58 other suspects.
According to the information, among those detained are Mustafa Bozbey's wife, daughter, brothers, and several businessmen. Searches are being conducted at the mayor's home and the municipality building.
The Prosecutor's Office stated that the suspects are being investigated under the articles of “forming a criminal organization and being a member of this organization,” as well as “legalization of funds obtained from crime.”
Simultaneous operations were also carried out in the cities of Istanbul, Balıkesir, and Diyarbakır. It was reported that 4 of the accused are abroad, and a search warrant has been issued for them.
