The traditional celebration of April 1st as World Laughter Day is not without reason. The main reason for this is that people cannot imagine their lives without laughter. The saying “Laughter is a sun, it takes winter from a person's face” is probably the most accurate assessment people give to this moral and psychological value.
Modern.az reports that Laughter Day originated in France 500 years ago. At that time, the French celebrated the New Year on that very day. However, the King of France decided that the New Year should be celebrated on January 1st. The people were dissatisfied with the king's decision. To protest this, they organized various events. The public mocked the king's men. They invited them to parties, but did not show up themselves, and spread false news. But the king did not change his decision.
Years passed. The people gradually got used to celebrating the New Year on January 1st. Nevertheless, they did not forget April 1st. Recalling the jokes of that day, they decided to celebrate April 1st as Laughter Day.
Soon this tradition spread throughout the world. On that day, people deceive each other, and no one gets offended by it. It is true that everyone tries not to be fooled on April 1st. But very few people succeed in this.
