Today marks the day of martyrdom of Azerbaijan's National Hero, Major Samid Imanov.
Modern.az recalls that Samid Imanov was born on October 14, 1981, in the Həsənabad settlement of Neftçala district. In 2003, he graduated from the Heydar Aliyev Higher Military School with honors and began his military service.
He served in various positions within the Special Forces, rising from deputy group commander to chief of staff of a military unit. To develop as a professional soldier, Samid Imanov participated in advanced training courses in Turkey, Pakistan, Switzerland, and Romania.
During an operation conducted on the line of contact in 2014, the detachment he led inflicted a serious blow on the opposing side.
Major Samid Imanov participated in the fierce battles that took place in the direction of Talış village of Tartar during the April 2016 clashes. Although wounded on the night of April 3-4, he did not abandon his combat position and saved the lives of his soldiers.
He fought until his last moment and was heroically martyred. The martyr's p was retrieved from a neutral zone on April 8, brought to his native Neftçala, and buried the next day in the Alley of Martyrs of his home district.
By the decree of the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, dated April 19, 2016, Samid Imanov was posthumously awarded the title of “National Hero of Azerbaijan”.
