US President Donald Trump stated that a long-term agreement consisting of 15 articles regarding Iran exists, and a large part of it has already been agreed upon.
Modern.az reports that Trump said in an interview with the “Agence France-Presse” agency:
“We have an agreement consisting of 15 articles, most of which have already been agreed upon. Let's see what happens next. Let's see if we can finalize the work,” the US leader told the agency.
According to information added by Agence France-Presse, Trump did not disclose whether he would return to his “initial threats” regarding destroying Iran's civilian power plants and bridges if the agreement fails. Trump also emphasized that Iran's uranium enrichment program would be discussed in any peace agreement.
According to the “Agence France-Presse” agency, Trump emphasized that there is a strong basis for a “long-term agreement” amidst uncertainty regarding the resumption of shipping activities in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump announced that he had agreed to a two-week suspension of attacks against Iran and stated that the ceasefire would be mutual. It was reported from the office of Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu that Tel Aviv supports Trump's decision.
Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme National Security Council announced that Tehran would begin talks with the US on Friday, April 10, in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan.
