Immediate operational measures are being taken by the "Icherisheher" State Historical-Architectural Reserve Department regarding the partial collapse that occurred in a section of the Fortress Wall within the territory of Icherisheher.
According to information from Modern.az, this was reported by the Department's Press Service.
It was emphasized that, in accordance with the existing action plan, urgent conservation and stabilization measures will be implemented in the initial stage:
"These measures are aimed at preventing further deformation of the damaged area and ensuring the stability of the structure."
In the next stage, a detailed technical and engineering-expert assessment will be conducted in the area, and based on its results, the scientifically substantiated restoration of the damaged part of the Fortress Wall will be carried out.
The Department stated that this approach has been successfully applied in other restoration projects previously implemented in the territory of Icherisheher.
It was noted that no restoration or conservation intervention has been carried out to date in the intersection section of towers No. 13 and 14 where the erosion incident occurred, and the main reason for the erosion is the humidity and natural erosion processes resulting from the incessant atmospheric precipitation observed in recent days:
"All restoration works to be carried out will be implemented with high precision, special sensitivity, and in accordance with international standards. Our goal is to ensure the long-term stability of the monument while preserving its historical authenticity."
The Department also stated that highly qualified specialists have currently been engaged in the area:
"The group of specialists, in addition to having many years of international experience, has also participated in the restoration of several important historical monuments in Azerbaijan. Among the projects they have implemented are the Maiden Tower, Gosha Gala Gates, Shirvanshahs' Palace Complex, and other important monuments."
