The World Health Organization (WHO) has placed a new COVID-19 variant with numerous genetic mutations under surveillance.
According to information obtained by Modern.az from foreign media, this variant has already been detected in 23 countries.
Experts state that a number of changes have been recorded in the genetic structure of the virus compared to previous variants. For this reason, its rate of spread and its impact on existing immunity are being investigated.
WHO has currently categorized this variant as a “variant under monitoring” and the development of the situation is being closely monitored. According to the organization's statement, there is currently no confirmed information about a serious threat or a new pandemic wave.
