In the Department of Kidney Diseases and Organ Transplantation of the Military Hospital of the Main Medical Department of the State Security Service, the ARTEMIS – MR Fusion Prostate Biopsy technology, one of the modern approaches in medicine, has been introduced.
Modern.az reports that, the innovation was implemented under the leadership of the renowned surgeon-urologist, transplantologist, head of the Scientific-Practical Center of the Main Military Medical Department of the SSS, chairman of the Board of the Association of Specialists in Kidney Transplantation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Doctor of Medical Sciences Rashad Shola.
This system allows for the detection of prostate cancer at an earlier stage and with high accuracy.
In the ARTEMIS device, multiparametric magnetic resonance tomography images of the prostate are combined with ultrasound images via special software. Thanks to this method, the malignant area in the prostate is precisely identified, and the biopsy is taken directly from the target point.
It should be noted that, targeted biopsy technology reduces the probability of error in the diagnosis of prostate cancer and makes a significant contribution to the timely detection of the disease.
