Macron and Erdoğan discussed the Middle East, Ukraine, and the South Caucasus
French President Emmanuel Macron met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

He stated that during the meeting, the situation in the Middle East was primarily discussed. The parties called for adherence to the ceasefire regime in Lebanon, protection of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and finding long-term diplomatic solutions.
Macron noted that the situation in Ukraine was also in focus during the meeting. According to him, the parties discussed joint efforts to ensure a just and lasting peace. It was emphasized that this peace should be in accordance with the UN Charter and based on reliable security guarantees for Ukraine.
The French President added that support for the peace process in the South Caucasus was expressed in the context of the European Political Community summit to be held in Yerevan on May 4. According to him, this process could lead to the beginning of a new stage in the region based on open borders and cooperation.
Macron finally stated that the parties agreed on the importance of further deepening dialogue and bilateral cooperation.
