US President Donald Trump is considering launching widespread strikes against Iran, including the removal of Iran's political and security leadership. Furthermore, a ready plan for potential strikes on the country's nuclear facilities and state institutions is on the table.
Currently, the US has amassed tens of thousands of troops, aircraft, missile systems, and aircraft carriers in military bases around Iran. The harsh statements from the US leadership regarding Iran and the possibility of a military strike are increasing tensions in the region.
In a statement to Modern.az, Cavanşir Feyziyev, a member of the Milli Majlis Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Ties, stated that the harsh rhetoric of the US leadership should not necessarily mean that events will escalate into a military conflict:
"It is clear from the statements made by the US that the goal is by no means the change of the Iranian regime. Against the backdrop of irreconcilable political statements from both sides, secret negotiations regarding nuclear agreements are being conducted in the background. The approach of US military forces to the Gulf should also be understood as a means of pressure to achieve the nuclear agreement insisted upon by President Trump in these ongoing negotiations between the US and Iran. It is also felt from the statements of the Iranian Foreign Minister that the Iranian authorities are inclined to accept the US conditions. The probability of events developing more in this direction is greater.
However, if for some reason an agreement is not reached and the start of military operations becomes inevitable, it will be a short-term special military operation and will not cause a large refugee influx".

C. Feyziyev emphasized that Azerbaijan and Turkey are ready to prevent the potential consequences of the events:
"Necessary security measures have been taken on both the Azerbaijani and Turkish borders, and neighboring states are ready to prevent the potential consequences of the events. The achievement of a nuclear agreement and Iran's complete and permanent abandonment of its nuclear industry based on such an agreement is extremely necessary, first and foremost, for the countries of the region, as well as for the entire world. This would ensure a reduction in military-political tension on an international scale".
