The new head of the European Observation Mission in Armenia, Satu Koivu, met with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.

Modern.az reports that she has been appointed to this post, replacing Markus Ritter.

Koivu began her duties on February 20 and today informed the Armenian Prime Minister about the mission's activities. According to the government's press service, the topic of their conversation was the establishment of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the ensuring of stability in the region.

In reality, this “mission”, which is not an observation mission but a spy network observing our borders day and night, serves to create artificial tension, not stability, on the Azerbaijan-Armenia border.

The EUMA mission, consisting of 100 observers, was sent to Armenia in February 2023. In December 2023, EU foreign ministers decided to expand the mission to 209 observers. Subsequently, a representative from Canada joined the mission, effectively indicating its departure from the announced format.

EUMA's main office is located in Yeghegnadzor, and the mission also has 6 points in Jermuk, Yeghegnadzor, Martuni, Kapan, Goris and Ijevan. On January 30, 2025, the European Union decided to extend the mandate until February 19, 2027.

Modern.az-ın əldə etdiyi məlumata əsasən, Avropa casus missiyasının yeni rəhbəri Satu Koivu isə Finlandiya polisində çalışıb və 35 ildən çox milli və beynəlxalq təcrübəyə malik yüksək vəzifəli zabitdir. Before being appointed head of the EU Mission in Armenia, she was the head of the Human Resources department at the Finnish National Police Board.

In this position, she served as the public face of the agency and, in particular, openly admitted that police suicides in Finland had caused serious concern in recent years. She held high-ranking positions in UN and EU missions in the Palestinian territories, Rwanda, Namibia, and Cyprus.

Koivu served as the Chief Police Advisor in UNFICYP, the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus, where she also served as the head of the UN Police service and led a staff of 69 international police officers.

Her area of responsibility was the buffer zone between the Greek and Turkish parts of the island. Satu Koivu became the first Finnish citizen to hold a high position in the UN peacekeeping police. During her tenure, there were also many allegations of her biased activities against Turkish Cyprus and collecting intelligence information in favor of the Greek side.

In any case, despite the rational and insistent calls from official Baku, the Armenian leadership's transformation of the region into a testing ground for third parties and the formation of a spy network on our country's borders completely contradict the essence of the peace talks conducted between the two countries. If official Yerevan is committed to the peace agenda, it must remove the European Union monitoring mission from its territory.
