“Yesterday's meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan was, in fact, an election debate.”

Modern.az reports that this was stated by Milli Majlis deputy Sahib Aliyev.

“Ahead of the parliamentary elections in Armenia, which Moscow still views as an outpost, Vladimir Putin acted as the leader of the revanchists, while Pashinyan acted as the leader of those supporting peace with Azerbaijan.
And the first April thesis that both leaders tried to convey to the world was that the one standing opposite them was to blame for Karabakh slipping from their hands, which the Russian President emphasized was a "sensitive issue"(?!) for them too.

I don't know if this can be called an "April Fool's joke," but both Putin and Pashinyan were openly lying. Because neither the Armenian Prime Minister, who once shouted "Karabakh is Armenia," nor the Russian President, who proudly stated that a Russian soldier never leaves a place where his foot has trod, wanted the current reality to emerge.

There is a nation and a leader who created this reality. That nation is the Azerbaijanis, led by their martyrs, and the leader is our Victorious Supreme Commander-in-Chief, Mr. Ilham Aliyev,” S. Aliyev noted.

According to political analyst Elkhan Shahinoglu, commenting on the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Nikol Pashinyan in the Kremlin, the Russian leader explicitly warned the Armenian prime minister, “You must choose either the European Union or the Eurasian Economic Union; both together are not possible”:

“Putin once said the same words to Ukraine's former President Viktor Yanukovych, and the outcome of that is well known: the war between the two countries has entered its fifth year. In other words, Putin seemed to want to tell Pashinyan that if he makes the wrong decision, it will have severe consequences for Armenia, just as it did for Ukraine. Pashinyan's response to Putin was that Armenia has not yet reached the stage where it needs to choose between the European Union and the Eurasian Economic Union. Overall, yesterday's meeting between the two leaders before the press took the form of mutual accusations. This is a rare occurrence. Although both leaders tried to express their thoughts diplomatically, Pashinyan effectively gave a negative response to every one of Putin's proposals.”

Let us recall that at yesterday's meeting in the Kremlin, Pashinyan stated that the Karabakh movement should not continue: “I have already openly declared in Armenia that we should not continue the Karabakh movement, because Armenia and Azerbaijan have recognized each other's sovereignty and territorial integrity based on the Alma-Ata Declaration.”
