On February 28, the war launched by Israel and the US in Iran has drawn the attention of the entire world to the region. The war has already spread to the Gulf countries. Iran continues to strike US military bases in Arab countries.
US President Donald Trump is making various statements regarding the war with Iran. He stated yesterday in a public announcement that the US would conclude its military campaign in Iran in the coming weeks.
“We had one goal – they will not have nuclear weapons. We achieved this goal. They will no longer have nuclear weapons,” Trump noted.
Although the US announced that it had destroyed Iran's military capabilities, Tehran intends to put Washington in a difficult position by using the Strait of Hormuz card. The US requested assistance from European countries regarding the opening of the strait but did not receive a positive response. Precisely for this reason, against the backdrop of economic difficulties, the issue of the US entering Iran by land has also come to the agenda.
Israeli journalist and political scientist Igor Roytapel stated in his remarks to Modern.az that it is impossible to predict when the war will end:
“Statements regarding a 2-3 week war are more political in nature. In reality, such conflicts, especially if potential ground operations begin, tend to last longer. Israel focuses on results, not timeframes. The operation will only conclude once its primary security objectives have been met.”
To the question, "How long do you think it will take for Israel to achieve its goal?" I. Roytapel responded as follows:
“Israel has 3 objectives: the destruction of ballistic missiles and their production infrastructure; the neutralization of nuclear capabilities, including uranium enrichment; and the creation of conditions for the change of the Ayatollah regime.
It is impossible to say how long this will take. Israel acts based on results, not the calendar, and the operation will continue until all security objectives are fully achieved.”
