Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan stated that the format of relations with Russia has changed.

According to Modern.az, he noted in an interview with RTVI that Armenia's relations with Moscow are no longer “big brother-little brother” relations, but are purely at the partnership level.

According to the President, this change has been one of Yerevan's main goals over the past four years:
“Now we have completely different relations with Russia - partnership relations. Russia no longer perceives Armenia as a younger brother, but as an equal partner. This is exactly what we were trying to achieve.”

Khachaturyan also commented on the words of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk that Armenia should choose between the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and the European Union.

“This question should be asked to Overchuk, what does this mean? Our economy is diversified and not tied to just one direction. We work within the framework of agreements with the EAEU, and we continue economic relations with the European Union. So far, no problems have been encountered,” the president emphasized.

Khachaturyan also expressed hope that Moscow would respect the independent decisions of the Armenian government.
