New details have been revealed regarding Israel's air operation against the Hamas leadership in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on September 9.
According to **Modern.az**, "The Wall Street Journal" reports that the US was informed about the attack only a few minutes beforehand, and the exact coordinates were kept secret.
This issue caused serious dissatisfaction in Washington. According to reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu personally made the decision regarding the operation, despite the risk that negotiations for a ceasefire and the release of hostages could be disrupted.
Eight F-15 and four F-35 fighter jets participated in the airstrike. As a result, six members of Hamas, including the son of leader Khalil al-Hayya, were killed; although the main target was al-Hayya himself, he survived. During the attack, an employee of the Qatari security forces also lost his life.
"The Washington Post" reports that initially, the MOSSAD leadership planned to carry out the operation through its own agents. However, the agency's director, David Barnea, rejected this option, considering the possibility of damaging relations with Qatar and halting negotiations regarding the hostages.
The operation's execution drew attention as it occurred while Hamas representatives were negotiating in Doha on a plan proposed through the mediation of US President Donald Trump (the release of hundreds of Palestinian prisoners in exchange for the freedom of all Israeli hostages). Although Israeli Army Chief of Staff Zamir and MOSSAD head Barnea opposed the operation, Netanyahu's decision remained unchanged.
US sources describe the operation's results as “unsuccessful.” This is because the main target was not neutralized, and at the same time, the negotiation process suffered a serious blow.
