Law enforcement agencies in Turkey have arrested Ahmet Sunqur, the mayor of Yahşihan district of Kırıkkale province, within the scope of a corruption case.
Modern.az, referring to the Turkish press, reports that he is a member of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).
Along with Sunqur, his deputy, the former deputy mayor, the head of the urban planning department, the former head of the municipality, and a businessman have also been placed in pre-trial detention. A total of 5 people have been detained.
Following the incident, the AKP Central Executive Committee referred the matter to the party's Central Disciplinary Committee, and Sunqur's expulsion from the party has been put up for discussion.
It should be noted that within the framework of the same investigation, Yahşihan's former mayor Osman Türkyılmaz and other individuals were also detained on May 27 and August 19 of this year.
