Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa addressed the UN General Assembly.

Modern.az reports that he stated his country had suffered from war and injustice for many years, but is now opening new opportunities for peace and cooperation.

“I have come from Damascus – the capital of history, the cradle of civilizations. For many years, we experienced injustice and oppression, but then we rose up, defending our dignity. Syria has transformed from a crisis-exporting country into an opportunity for peace in the region,” Sharaa stated.

He demanded the complete lifting of all sanctions against Syria.

During his speech, the Syrian leader thanked Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, other Arab countries, the European Union, and the USA for their support.

Sharaa also demonstrated solidarity with Gaza, stating, “we are among the peoples who have experienced the horrors of war, and therefore we stand with the people of Gaza,” earning applause in the hall.

The Syrian leader called on the international community to stand with his country in the face of Israeli attacks.
