The superyacht named “Amadea”, reportedly owned by Russian billionaire Suleyman Kerimov, has been sold by the US government.
Modern.az reports that Business Insider published information about this.
The 106-meter yacht, confiscated by the US Department of Justice, was sold to an unknown buyer at a closed auction held on September 10. Although the sale price was not disclosed, the department had previously estimated the value of “Amadea” at $300 million, with a recent independent appraisal indicating $230 million.
Authorities expedited the sale of the yacht because its maintenance was costing US taxpayers approximately $1 million per month. Expenses included crew salaries, fuel, and insurance payments.
“Amadea” was seized in Fiji in May 2022 as part of an investigation related to Kerimov under US sanctions and subsequently brought to San Diego. In June 2025, the New York Federal Court authorized the sale of the vessel.
The yacht was built by the German shipbuilding company “Lürssen”. It features six decks, a swimming pool, two SPA areas, a cinema, a conference hall, a gym, a lobster aquarium, and a helicopter pad. The main salon houses a rare “Pleyel” grand piano, adorned with 24-carat gold and hand-painted.
