Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that from January 1, the term of military service will be one and a half years, not two years.
Modern.az reports that Pashinyan wrote about this on the “Facebook” social network:
“As a result of discussions in parliament, the Minister of Defense had put into circulation a legislative initiative proposing to set the term of military service in Armenia at 1.5 years, not two years.
Initially, this regulation was intended to come into force from 2026. From the summer conscription until today, I discussed with the Minister of Defense, and in the previous period, with deputies, and we decided that the law should come into force sooner, specifically from January 1, 2026.
In other words, from the winter conscription of January 1, 2026, the term of military service in Armenia will be one and a half years, not two years,” Pashinyan stated.
