A meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio could take place in Budapest.
Modern.az reports that, according to the "Financial Times" publication, the meeting could be held on October 30.
The meeting will take place before the anticipated summit between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump.
According to information, talks between the Russian and US presidents are planned in the Hungarian capital. The purpose of the summit is to seek a diplomatic path to end the war in Ukraine.
Lavrov and Rubio discussed preparations for the summit in a phone call on October 20. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the parties are trying to agree on the format and agenda of the talks. Russian Foreign Ministry official Sergey Ryabkov added that another phone call between the ministers is possible in the coming days.
The newspaper also writes that Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán will present his plans before the Putin and Trump summit.
