King Charles III of Great Britain and Queen Camilla have arrived in Rome as part of a historic state visit.
Modern.az reports that this visit is regarded as a symbolic demonstration of unity between the Anglican Church and the Catholic Church. King Charles landed at Ciampino Airport on Wednesday evening and he will be the first British monarch to pray alongside a Pope since the Reformation in the 16th century.
On Thursday morning, the King will meet Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City and will later participate in a joint prayer service in the Sistine Chapel. The ceremony will bring together Catholic and Anglican clergy, as well as the Royal and Vatican choirs. At the same time, during this meeting, the King and the Pope will pray together for the first time. This will be the first such event to occur since the separation of the Anglican Church from the Catholic Church in the 16th century.
It should be noted that one of the rare aspects of this visit is that moments when monarchs pray are usually considered private and filming is not permitted. However, this time, in a demonstration of unity and solidarity, this rule will be an exception.
