The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office has launched an investigation against Ekrem İmamoğlu, the detained Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, and Mardan Yanardağ, editor-in-chief of TELE1 television channel, on charges of “espionage”.
Modern.az reports that, according to Turkish media, Mardan Yanardağ has been detained within this framework and taken to the police station.
Within the scope of the investigation, it has been decided to take Ekrem İmamoğlu's statement also on the same charge.
It should be recalled that Ekrem İmamoğlu was detained within the framework of a criminal case opened on the basis of charges of "Leading a criminal organization", "Being a member of a criminal organization", "Extortion", "Bribery", "Intentional fraud", "Unlawful acquisition of personal data" and "Tender fraud".
