Turkey has risen to 11th place in the world in terms of arms exports. Turkey's defense industry products are exported to 180 countries. However, we will not be content with what we have achieved and aim to completely eliminate our dependence on imports in the defense sector.
Modern.az reports that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated this at the handover ceremony of the first domestically produced “Altay” tank to the Turkish Land Forces Command in Ankara.
According to him, ВМС company's new facility has the capacity to produce eight “Altay” tanks and 10 “Altuğ” armored combat vehicles per month.
“We are striving to eliminate any dependence on foreign suppliers, including for important components of the “Altay” tanks,” the president emphasized Ankara's determination in developing its local military-industrial complex.
The Turkish leader believes that restrictions and obstacles may slow down Turkey's path towards its stated goals, but they cannot prevent it from achieving its set objectives. “We will either find an alternative path to our goal or open a new one,” Erdoğan noted.
