Since the change of power in Syria on December 8, 2024, approximately 550,000 Syrian refugees have voluntarily returned to their homeland from Turkey.

Turkey's Minister of Internal Affairs, Ali Yerlikaya, stated during his visit to the border province of Kilis that 1.29 million people have returned from Turkey to Syria since 2016: "Our main priority is to ensure the dignified and safe return of our Syrian brothers and sisters".
He emphasized that since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, Turkey has been guided by humanitarian principles and respect for the rights of refugees.
"Ankara's approach to irregular migration has become an example for the entire world," the minister added.
