Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has revealed several details about the "Trump route" (Zangezur corridor).
According to Modern.az, Pashinyan stated that the route, usually referred to as the “Trump corridor,” should extend from Azerbaijani territory through Meghri to Nakhchivan, and from there to the settlement of Yeraskh, and then towards the village of Akhurik, located on the Turkish border.
Pashinyan noted at the press conference that Armenia has already started a part of the work in this direction:
“A very small area remains for us to restore, and we have already started these works,” he emphasized.
The Prime Minister also drew attention to the fact that Azerbaijan has started the construction of the Kars–Dilucu (Kars–Nakhchivan) railway.
According to Pashinyan, the Washington Peace Summit allows for a significant reduction in the project's cost, as the same route can also be provided along the Akhurik–Yeraskh line:
“Naturally, we are also working in this direction,” he stated.
He once again specifically noted the role of US President Donald Trump in the process:
“Yes, in the previous period, the Armenia–Azerbaijan peace process showed positive dynamics, but there were also serious difficulties. President Trump's personal involvement played a decisive role in reaching an agreement.”
Pashinyan also announced the timeline for the process:
By the end of the year – completion of legal issues and finalization of the text;
First half of 2026 – adoption of decisions arising from the agreement;
Second half of 2026 – commencement of construction works.
The Prime Minister stated that there are no obstacles to the implementation of the project, as all disputed points are reflected in the Washington Declaration:
“We only have to implement the agreements reached,” Pashinyan said.
