American journalist Tucker Carlson claimed that US President Donald Trump could declare war on Venezuela.
Modern.az reports that he spoke about this on the “Judging Freedom” podcast.
According to Carlson, this statement could be made during Trump's planned address to the nation from the Oval Office of the White House.
The journalist stated that one of the members of Congress told him that legislators had been informed about an “imminent war” the day before. Carlson noted that, according to that information, this issue could be announced during the president's address to the nation at 9 PM.
Donald Trump's address coincides with a period of escalating tensions between the US and Venezuela. Recently, Washington has increased its military activity in the Caribbean, while also accusing Caracas of drug trafficking and other crimes. The White House has not disclosed the topic of the president's speech in advance.
According to reports, by November, a grouping of US warships, including destroyers and amphibious assault ships, had been deployed in the Caribbean near Venezuela. The number of US military personnel in the region is reported to have reached 16,000.
