“The city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region was and currently remains under the control of the Russian armed forces.”
Modern.az reports that this was stated by Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova at a briefing.
"On December 15, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiha hastened to announce at the EU Council meeting held at the level of foreign ministers in Brussels that a supposedly successful military operation had been carried out in Kupyansk, and naturally, he stated that everything Russia said was a lie," the diplomat noted.
"No, what Russia says is not a lie, because we present facts, and facts are stubborn things. Kyiv simply cannot admit that the situation on the ground is deteriorating by the second.
The liberated Kupyansk was and remains under the control of the Russian armed forces," Zakharova emphasized.
According to the diplomat, in recent days, Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy has allocated more reserves to the battle in the Kupyansk region:
"Kyiv's initial unsuccessful attempts to achieve some progress were repelled, and the enemy suffered heavy losses in terms of equipment and personnel. What was all this for? Simply for the sake of this criminal boasting by the leader of the Kyiv regime. All for Zelenskyy," Zakharova said.
It should be noted that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the city of Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region on December 12. Zelenskyy, who went to the city where battles with Russian troops continue, thanked the fighters there and stated that the entire city would soon be liberated from Russian military personnel. Zelenskyy also shared a video from the city's entrance.
