Iranian-American Mora Namdar has been appointed Assistant Secretary of State for Consular Affairs of the United States.

It was reported that Namdar, the daughter of Iranian immigrants, served as a high-ranking official in the State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs until early December.
In addition, she also served as Assistant Secretary for Consular Affairs during the first presidential term of US leader Donald Trump.
