The Armed Forces of Ukraine have withdrawn from the city of Seversk, located in Donetsk Oblast.
Modern.az reports that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine has issued a statement regarding this.
The official statement indicates that heavy fighting continues in the direction of Seversk. Russian forces possess a significant advantage in terms of manpower and military equipment, and despite sustaining serious losses, they continue their offensive operations. The Ukrainian side announced that defenders have withdrawn from the settlement with the aim of preserving the lives of military personnel and maintaining the combat capability of units.
According to the General Staff, the city currently remains under the fire control of Ukrainian forces. The statement emphasizes that Russian units were able to advance by exerting continuous pressure with small assault groups and utilizing their numerical superiority in complex weather conditions.
Seversk is located in an area close to the city of Sloviansk, approximately 30 kilometers away. Although Russian military personnel announced that the city was captured on December 11, the Ukrainian side stated at that time that fighting was ongoing.
