French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, considering a possible political crisis scenario, has instructed the Ministry of Interior to prepare for the organization of potential snap parliamentary elections on the same dates as municipal elections – March 15 and 22.

Modern.az reports that “franceinfo” disseminated information on this matter, referring to a source in the executive branch, and the news confirmed AFP's report.

According to the information, the government is currently facing a threat of no-confidence from both the far-right National Rally (Rassemblement National -RN) and “France Unbowed” (La France insoumise -LFI) parties. Should such a no-confidence vote be adopted, the dissolution of the National Assembly and subsequent snap parliamentary elections could become an agenda item.

If this scenario materializes, French voters will have to cast their votes in two elections simultaneously – both municipal and parliamentary elections. According to sources within the government, Lecornu does not rule out this possibility and wants preparations to be made now for the technically smooth organization of the electoral process.
