Today, pro-government demonstrations were held in Tehran and several other major cities against the riots.
Modern.az reports that, according to information released by Iranian state television, in Tehran, as well as Zahidan, Zanjan, Kerman, Qom, Rasht, Hamadan, and a total of ten cities, people who took to the streets chanted slogans supporting the government and "condemned the recent acts of terrorism" committed by rioters.
Some time ago, Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that the country's authorities possess documents proving the involvement of the US and Israel in the terrorist acts that occurred.
It should be recalled that, on December 29, due to the sharp depreciation of the Iranian rial, traders in Tehran began protest actions. A day later, students also joined them. The riots, which spread to most major cities, reached their peak on January 8 and resulted in the deaths of at least 13 civilians. The authorities, however, claimed that 38 law enforcement officers died in the clashes.
