Iran sold missiles worth approximately 3 billion dollars to Russia to help President Vladimir Putin in the Ukraine war.

Modern.az, referring to foreign media, reports that, according to a Western security official, among the purchased items are hundreds of "Fath-360" short-range ballistic missiles, approximately 500 other short-range ballistic missiles, and approximately 200 anti-aircraft missiles.

Tehran has also shared Shahed-136 kamikaze drones and the technology allowing Russia to domestically produce them under the name Geran-2.

Since the end of 2021, Russia is estimated to have spent more than 4 billion dollars on Iranian military equipment.

Agreements between Moscow and Tehran were signed in October 2021, before the war began. Iran signed a strategic partnership agreement with Russia in January 2025, but there is no mutual defense treaty, and Moscow offered no practical assistance to Tehran during Israeli and US attacks on Iran last year.
