US President Donald Trump held a meeting with his closest advisors on January 13 to discuss how to respond to the actions of Iran's supreme leadership.
Modern.az reports that, according to sources from "The New York Times", at the meeting, the Pentagon presented Trump with a very wide spectrum of possible response options.
Among the proposals were the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities that were not subjected to US strikes during the war that occurred between June 13–25, 2025, and lasted 12 days, as well as the destruction of ballistic missile production centers.
In addition, “softer” scenarios – cyberattacks and precision strikes on the positions of the Iranian security apparatus responsible for the use of force in the streets – were also discussed. Sources indicated that military operations could begin in a few days at the earliest.
According to the information, approaches to this issue within the US administration differ. Thus, some officials believe that military intervention could harm the ongoing protests in Iran.
Another group, however, considers it important not to delay the operation and views Tehran's declaration of readiness for talks with Washington merely as an attempt to postpone military confrontation.
It should be noted that Trump today called on the Iranian people on his social media account to seize the institutions. He stated that help was on the way.
