Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has departed for Muscat, Oman, with a diplomatic delegation to hold nuclear talks with the United States.

Modern.az reports, citing Iranian media, that this was stated by Esmail Baqai, spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"These diplomatic talks are being held with the aim of achieving a fair, mutually acceptable, and honest understanding on the nuclear issue.

We highly appreciate all friendly neighboring and regional countries that are responsible and participating in the formation of this process. We hope that the American side will also participate responsibly, realistically, and seriously," he noted.

Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi, a few hours before the start of a new round of nuclear talks between Iran and the US today, emphasized Tehran's commitment to principled diplomacy.

Araqchi wrote in a post on the X social media platform: "Commitments must be fulfilled. Equal standing, mutual respect, and mutual interest are not rhetoric – these are imperatives and the pillars of a lasting agreement."

US President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has arrived in Muscat, the capital of Oman, to participate in the planned nuclear talks with Iran.

According to diplomatic sources, the talks will be held under Oman's mediation and will aim to restart the long-stalled nuclear issue between Washington and Tehran.
