In Austria and France, the use of Danone company's infant milk formulas was banned.
Modern.az, referring to foreign media, reports that a number of European countries, including Austria, France, Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Romania, and Hungary, have banned the consumption of Aptamil and Milumil infant foods due to the risk of possible contamination with the “cereulide” toxin, which causes vomiting and diarrhea.
This is the biggest failure in Danone's history.
The contamination is linked to an additive called arachidonic acid oil, obtained from China's Cabio Biotech company.
The crisis has affected more than 60 countries and also impacted Nestle company. In Great Britain, 36 infants are reported to have fallen ill; no deaths have been recorded.
Meanwhile, French authorities are investigating Nestlé's milk formula's possible connection to the deaths of two children.
