The killer who shot Lieutenant General Vladimir Alekseyev, Deputy Head of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the Russian Armed Forces, has been apprehended.
Modern.az reports that local media outlets have disseminated information regarding this.
It was reported that the person who shot the general fled to Dubai. He is currently being apprehended and returned to Russia.
The newspaper "Kommersant" reported that two suspects have emerged in the assassination attempt against Alekseyev. A source close to the investigation informed the publication that one of them is believed to have inflicted three gunshot wounds on the general.
The source added that the general himself survived and underwent a successful operation.
According to "Kommersant"'s source, both suspects will soon be handed over to the investigation for questioning. Based on the results, charges are planned to be brought against the accused individuals. If the suspicions are confirmed, a court hearing is expected to take place tomorrow.
