At least 12 people have lost their lives as a result of the damage caused by tropical storm “Basyang” in the Philippines.
According to Modern.az, GMA television channel reported this, citing the country's Civil Defense Office.
It is reported that 4 people died as a result of a landslide in the city of Cagayan de Oro, located on Mindanao island, while other fatalities drowned during floods.
The storm, accompanied by heavy rains, affected approximately half a million people in the southern regions of the Philippines. As a result of the natural disaster, 38 buildings were completely destroyed, and 407 structures were partially damaged.
The statement noted that a total of approximately 467,000 people were affected by the damage caused by tropical cyclone “Basyang” in the Visayas island and Mindanao region.
