The visit of James David Vance, Vice President of the United States, to the South Caucasus begins.
Modern.az reports that Vance will be on an official visit to the Republic of Armenia on February 9-10.
According to information from the Armenian government, the American Vice President will meet with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan this evening, and they will issue statements.
James David Vance will arrive in Azerbaijan from Armenia tomorrow.
It should be noted that Vance will be accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance, during his visit to the South Caucasus.
The 40-year-old James David Vance has been serving as the Vice President of the United States since January 2025 and holds this high post in Donald Trump's second administration. He is considered one of the young politicians who can rise very rapidly on the country's political scene.
James Vance worked for various companies until 2021. In July of that year, as a member of the Republican Party, he announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate from Ohio and was elected senator.
James David Vance met his future wife, Usha Chilukuri, who is of Indian origin, in 2013 while studying at Yale University Law School. They married in 2014. The wedding took place in two religious traditions – Hindu and Christian (J.D. Vance, who grew up in a Protestant family, converted to Catholicism in 2019).
The couple has three children – sons Evan and Vivek, and daughter Mirabel.
Foreign media reports that U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump hold Usha Vance in high regard. At the inauguration ceremony in January 2025, Trump said while speaking about James Vance: "The only person smarter than James is his wife. I could have chosen her (Usha Vance) as Vice President, but the line of succession worked differently.”
The Vance family currently resides in an official residence in the capital, Washington, and frequently appears together at public events.
