Narges Mohammadi, the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize laureate, has been arrested in Iran and sentenced to over 7 years in prison.
Modern.az reports, citing foreign media, that her lawyer, Mostafa Nili, stated this.
The decision was issued by the Mashhad court on February 7. Mohammadi was sentenced to 6 years in prison on charges of "assembly and conspiracy" and an additional 1.5 years on charges of "propaganda."
The court also banned her from leaving the country for a period of 2 years.
The lawyer also noted that Narges Mohammadi was sentenced to 2 years of internal exile in the city of Hosf, located approximately 740 kilometers southeast of Tehran.
Mohammadi's supporters claim that she has been on a hunger strike since February 2, following her arrest during a protest in December.
