US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick admitted his close ties with Jeffrey Epstein.
Modern.az reports that the secretary had previously claimed to have cut ties with Epstein. However, he admitted to visiting Epstein's private island in 2012, after Epstein was convicted of sex crimes.
During a Senate hearing, Lutnick described the visit as follows:
I had lunch with him while on a boat trip during a family vacation. My wife, four children, and nannies were with me."
Senators stated that correspondence between Jeffrey Epstein and the secretary continued until 2018.
Senator Jeff Merkley questioned his claims:
"What concerns people is that you said last year that you had completely cut off all communication, but since then, there have been 8 instances of mutual contact. In 2012, you planned a trip to a private island with your family. It seems you know this man well enough to call him and say, 'Let's bring our families together.'"
Although some senators demanded Lutnick's resignation, the White House rejected these claims.
It should be recalled that Jeffrey Epstein was accused of sexual abuse against minors on an island he owned, along with influential politicians and businessmen.
