Ukraine has begun planning a presidential election and a referendum on peace agreements with Russia for May 15.
Modern.az reports that "The Financial Times" (FT) has published information on this, citing sources.
According to FT, this step was taken under pressure from the US administration to end the conflict in Ukraine in the spring.
The newspaper also noted that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could make an announcement about the referendum and elections on February 24. His entourage stated that they are ready to hold the vote as soon as possible, despite the logistical difficulties that have arisen in the country.
In addition, according to FT, the Ukrainian parliament will work on legislative amendments in March and April that would allow elections to be held during martial law.
