Samvel Karapetyan, the owner of the “Tashir” Group of Companies, will be the prime ministerial candidate of the “Strong Armenia” Party, which was presented today.
Modern.az reports, citing Armenian media, that this was stated during the presentation ceremony.
A day earlier, Samvel Karapetyan was unanimously elected leader of the “Strong Armenia” Party.
It should be noted that Karapetyan was arrested in June 2025. A criminal case was opened against the businessman on charges of "laundering large sums of dirty money by abusing official powers or influence".
In late December 2025, he was released to house arrest.
Samvel Karapetyan is considered the main rival of Armenia's current Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan.
It should be recalled that parliamentary elections in Armenia will be held on June 7, 2026.
