A vote will be held in Switzerland on a proposal to limit the population to 10 million people.
Modern.az reports that in the vote initiated by the far-right SVP party, if the population exceeds 9.5 million, restrictions on the entry of foreigners, including asylum seekers, will be demanded. Furthermore, should the population reach 10 million, Switzerland is expected to implement additional measures, including withdrawing from its free movement agreement with the European Union.
Switzerland's population is growing faster than its neighbors, and approximately 27% of the country's residents are foreigners.
The SVP party cites rising rents, overburdened infrastructure, and crime problems among foreigners as reasons for the restrictions.
