The increase in the US military presence in the Middle East is assessed as preparation for possible direct operations related to Iran.
Modern.az reports that "BBC Verify", citing analysts from a British military intelligence company, states that the deployment of additional forces to the region could indicate a plan of action against a wide spectrum of targets.
According to the information, the "USS Gerald R. Ford" aircraft carrier may move towards the Mediterranean Sea. Furthermore, two US AWACS aircraft, which ensure the management of combat operations, have landed in Great Britain. Analysts state that continuous flights of fuel tankers and transport aircraft to the region indicate long-term operational readiness.
According to "Axios" publication, in the last 24 hours, the US has deployed more than 50 F-35, F-22, and F-16 fighter jets to the Middle East.
In parallel with this, the next round of US-Iran talks concluded in Geneva on February 17. Oman's Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi stated that the meeting concluded “with significant progress in terms of identifying common goals and technical issues.” A US official said that the parties had made progress, but many details still needed to be discussed.
Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi announced that the parties had agreed to work on potential draft agreements, exchange proposals, and determine the date of the next meeting.
