The US intends to withdraw all its troops, numbering approximately 1000 personnel, from Syria.
Modern.az reports that the "Wall Street Journal" has published information regarding this, citing sources.
Sources stated that the American army will leave Syria within the next two months.
Previously, it was reported that the American army had withdrawn its troops from the al-Shaddadi base in Syria's northeastern Hasakah province. The facility has come under the control of the Syrian army. The management of the base was carried out in coordination with the American side. Last week, Americans also withdrew their troops from the al-Tanf base in southern Syria.
In April 2025, the "The New York Times" reported that the US had begun reducing the number of its troops in Syria. The army planned to close three of its eight bases in the country's northeast and reduce the number of troops from 2000 to 1400. At the same time, American commanders recommended "leaving at least 500 American soldiers in Syria."
