If a two-month ceasefire is achieved in Ukraine, elections could theoretically be held.
Modern.az reports, citing Ukrainian media, that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this idea.
"I think our partners should answer one question: what do they want? Do they want real elections, or do they just want to replace me? I think the Russians just want to replace me. And there is a civilized way to do this - elections," he noted.
Zelenskyy emphasized that if Washington could establish peace in Ukraine, he would not block some of the US proposals regarding elections.
"If a two-month ceasefire is achieved for elections to be held, I will do my best to talk to the parliament and persuade the deputies to something they do not support. They do not support holding elections during wartime, nor does the public. Although a two-month ceasefire does not end the war, I can talk to the parliament," Zelenskyy noted.
At the same time, Zelenskyy emphasized that for this to happen, the people must express their opinion in a referendum, and the parliament must amend the existing legislation.
