In the 2001 document of "Dashnaktsutyun", it was admitted that a new war would result in defeat for Armenia.
Modern.az reports that noteworthy admissions were made in an internal circular addressed to party bodies by the Bureau of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation – Dashnaktsutyun party on April 16, 2001.
The document notes that, if the existing (Key West) plan is prevented, it is not excluded that this could create a formal basis for a new war. It is stated that the outcome of such a war would, at best, be the same as the option proposed at that time, the only difference being that new conditions would already be dictated to Armenia as the defeated party.
The source emphasizes that expressing such an approach intended for internal use in documents, while simultaneously taking a completely opposite stance before the public – making statements such as "we possess the strongest army in the region, we will not give up even an inch of land" – is evaluated as political hypocrisy.
A particularly noteworthy point is that Dashnaktsutyun was represented in a coalition with Armenia's then-president Robert Kocharyan in 2001. This indicates that the country's leadership at that time also shared the conviction that a new war could only result in defeat for Armenia.
