Modern.az reports that this statement was made by representatives close to Rouhani following claims in Western media regarding a plan to remove Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei from power.
It was stated that the materials published in “Le Figaro” and “The New York Times” are based on anonymous sources and are “false” and “fabricated” in nature.
Rouhani's press service assessed this information as a “psychological operation” aimed at creating anxiety and distrust in Iranian society, linked to US and Israeli sources.
It should be recalled that “Le Figaro” had previously reported, citing sources, that an attempt was made to remove the supreme leader from power during mass protests in Iran in January 2026. According to the publication's claim, Rouhani was behind the initiative, and he sought to limit Khamenei's powers and transfer crisis management to a broader circle of officials.
